So I've gotten a lot of requests to update my website more often. I have to admit that my intention when I launched this site was to post at least weekly updates, to use this space as something of a visual diary of my work and practices. But, alas, I found the idea extremely overwhelming. After all, I am a painter, not a blogger... I respect the people that demand both of themselves, and maybe, one day, the idea will not seem overwhelming, but instead, exciting and refreshing. So, for now, I will share my Twitter/Instagram updates - I sincerely hope you enjoy watching my work develop with me! And, as always, please feel free to ask any questions and share any insights in the comment section below!
Here are some (not so great) photos of my newest piece I'm working on. Started the drawing phase days ago, but as of now, I'm about two days into the underpainting phase. I started this piece a little differently, trying to avoid my typical pencil drawing on the canvas, and instead used white paint to outline what I was trying to convey. I can see already that this was a mistake and that it will be a battle to cover the lines, even though I tried to scrub them out immediately after laying them down. *sigh* You paint and you learn! Honestly, if I wasn't learning something new with each piece I would be failing myself, so bring on the challenges! Overall, I'm beyond excited for this piece to develop and feel like I'm getting closer and closer to finding my "voice".
