I think I can call this one a wrap! I've added the vein details to the super in-focus petals, corrected the lost blue/gold dynamic I love so much, and sharpened up the center even more, I'll have to wait to post this under the gallery section until I get a more professional photograph with the proper color balances, but for now, I thought I could share the joy of another finished painting!!
Taking this painting out of it's blurry stage has been really rewarding so far. For me, the fun really comes from playing with focus - discerning what I want to remain blurry, contrasted with what I wish to be sharp. I have lost a bit of that beautiful play between the blues and golds, so onward I march in search of the right balance!
I've had to spend some time away from my studio and I'm beyond eager to get back into the swing of this latest piece. I'm picking up where I left off by continuing to scrub in the darks, hopefully creating a nice shade off of which light will pop from petals just where I want! I've also simultaneously been working on creating a dynamic between blues and yellows, which I'm finding incredibly fascinating. Still enjoying this painting immensely and grateful to be back working on a piece that I'm finding it difficult to set the brushes down.
